madphoto1Since graduating from USC School of Dentistry with academic honors, Dr. Ericson has been obsessed with furthering his knowledge and scope of practice. He completes up to 6 times the required amount of continuing education per year. Dr. Ericson has completed two residencies in implant surgery; one while at USC and the other at the California Implant Institute, which he felt to be the most valuable learning experience he has had to date. Dr. Ericson has continued his drive to learn more by starting another post-graduate programs for advanced prosthodontic dentistry at the prestigious Kois Center in Seattle. In addition to this, Dr. Ericson has been training tirelessly at perfecting his orthodontic skills and teaches orthodontics nationally.

Dr. Ericson is an enthusiastic advocate of sedation dentistry, and believes that making sure his patients are relaxed and anxiety free is a major factor in the success of many of his cases. He completed the immense amount of extra work to qualify him for an IV Sedation Permit, which allows him put his patients in a much deeper and more comfortable state during their procedures.

Prior to USC, Dr. Ericson attended UCSB and graduated with a degree in Molecular Biology. He practiced in Manhattan Beach and ran a large dental practice in Long Beach before deciding to move back to Santa Barbara where he and his wife first met.

Dr. Ericson has traveled extensively with philanthropic organizations that set up dental clinics in some of the most remote corners of Latin America. These missions have been the most eye opening experiences for him, both from a dental and cultural standpoint.

Along with many other outdoor sports, Dr. Ericson is a lifelong waterman and continues to work one week a year as a Los Angeles County Fire Department Ocean Lifeguard where he has been on the force since 2000. In the past, Dr. Ericson was an EMT for the LA County Lifeguards and continuing his involvement keeps him current with many emergency medical procedures that carry over into his dental career. Dr. Ericson is a devoted long distance paddleboarder and has competed for 20 years in numerous races in California and on the east coast including three times in the storied 32 mile Catalina Classic. In addition to paddle-boarding Dr. Ericson is an avid surfer, which has taken him to many exotic places around the world.

Dr. Ericson and his wife, Katrin have 2 boys, Jan and Sebastian. They travel to Austria at least once a year to visit family, ski, and hike. Katrin has a PhD from UCLA in Stem Cell Biology and currently works at Amgen in Thousand Oaks.
