Tooth Whitening for Immediate Results

If you have always wanted a new smile, but thought you couldn’t afford it, think again. These days cosmetic dentistry isn’t just for the red carpet thanks to 21st century cosmetic dentistry.

Your dentist will tell you that a beautiful toothy grin is something that everyone should have and can help you come up with a plan for your new smile whether it includes dental implants, porcelain veneers, dental bonding, or something as simple as tooth whitening.

If you have tried those over the counter tooth whitening products from your local pharmacy and have been unhappy with the results, schedule an appointment with your dentist.

Those gels, strips, pastes and rinses that are available from your pharmacy will not do as good a job as your dentist will because the peroxide, used as the whitening agent, is not as strong as the professional tooth whitening gels that you will get from your dentist.

Your dentist explains that there are two types of tooth whitening procedures that you may want to consider when it comes to professional tooth whitening. Custom made tooth-whitening trays with a professional grade gel, and something called Accelerated Whitening.

When you schedule an appointment with your dentist for tooth whitening, your teeth and gums will be checked to make sure that you do not have gum disease or dental caries. If you have any issues, your dentist will want to take care of them first before proceeding with any type of cosmetic dentistry treatment.

Once you have the all clear you and your dentist will decide between the two procedures, take home custom made bleaching trays or Accelerated Whitening.

If you want your teeth whitened for that party coming up in a few days, Accelerated Whitening is the way to go as your dentist can whiten your teeth chair side in a single dental appointment.

If you are not in a hurry, your dentist recommends custom plastic whitening trays that are made from impressions of your teeth. Once your trays are ready, you will take them home with a special whitening gel. You will notice whiter, brighter teeth in four to six weeks if you use the kit for several hours each day.

Tooth whitening will not work on teeth that are stained on the inside or on teeth that have been previously restored.

If you would like more information regarding any type of cosmetic dental procedure, including tooth whitening, call and schedule an appointment with your dentist today.
